Canada selects Germany for submarine contract
Canada has officially chosen the German-Norwegian consortium ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems to build a new fleet of 12 advanced submarines for the Royal Canadian Navy. The deal marks a victory for NATO-standard equipment over competing bids, including those from South Korea's Hanwha Ocean. The procurement is intended to modernize Canada's naval capabilities for northern patrol operations.
