Panel proposes new services production index
A government technical advisory committee has recommended a phased rollout for a new Index of Services Production. The index is intended to provide better visibility into the services sector, which accounts for a substantial portion of the nation's Gross Value Added. A trial release is expected to precede full integration into official economic reporting.
