Professor Bimal N. Patel has been elected as a judge to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) in Hamburg, Germany. Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar publicly congratulated Patel on the appointment. The tribunal adjudicates disputes arising from the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
